Debating the State of the Union - 10th June

May 30, 2008 5:28 PM

The keynote speaker at the event will be Professor Anand Menon, Director of the European Research Institute at the University of Birmingham. The meeting will be a welcome opportunity to discuss Professor Menon's important new book, "Europe: the state of the Union". Professor Richard Whitman of Bath University and Brendan Donnelly as Director of the Federal Trust will respond to Professor Menon's presentation and there will be ample opportunity for questions from the floor. There will be a reception after the function at about 6.45 p.m

Professor Menon describes his book as avoiding "the excesses of both ardent Europhiles and sworn enemies of European integration" and copies will be available for purchase on the evening. The volume is already available in bookshops, and is published by Atlantic Books. As a summary of and contribution to the British debate on the European Union, Professor Menon's book will undoubtedly be one of the most significant published in the field this year.

5 pm, London Metropolitan University, 31 Jewry Street, London EC3N 2EY.

To register for the event please contact Ulrike Rüb-Taylor on ulrike.rub@fedtrust.co.uk or 020 7320 3045.
