Debating Brexit with Hermann van Rompuy

February 26, 2019 4:30 PM
Herringham Hall REGENT'S UNIVERSITY, Inner Circle, Regent's Park London,

Registration opens from 16.00

The event will be followed by a reception

More than two years on, the UK's future relationship with the EU is still unresolved. What should the UK's future relationship be with the EU? How can it best protect its interests while maintaining positive relationships with its nearest neighbours?

EU Member States were united in response to Brexit but have been divided in their response to other challenges. What should their response to Brexit be in the longer term? How can they maintain a united European front on security and trade in the faces of the challenges from Putin and from Trump?

Our special guest speaker will be Herman Van Rompuy, former Prime Minister of Belgium and the former President of the European Council from 2009 to 2014. He will be joined by a panel of experts and commentators, including Jenni Russell, columnist at The Times, which will be chaired by Lord Hannay of Chiswick, chair of the Senior European Experts.
