LibDem MP James MacCleary calls for Youth Mobility Scheme

30 Nov 2024

Liberal Democrat Europe Spokesperson, James MacCleary, recently challenged the Government on its refusal to act and support a youth mobility scheme.

Liberal Democrats support this establishment of such a scheme to encourage young British citizens and young Europeans to lives, work and study in each other's country.

In the government's response, they once again respond that there is no intention of returning to “freedom-of-movement”. However, a youth mobility scheme is different than the free movement of labour. It requires young people to apply for visas.

Young people in the UK are being denied opportunities because this government refuses to sit down with our European allies to agree on a Youth Mobility Scheme. James MacCleary challenges the Government on its refusal to act.
